We are profoundly grateful to Pastors Cecil and Loretta Forbes of Christian Tabernacle Church for their unwavering support and partnership with the Holy Hoops Basketball & Cheer League. Their generous provision of the Family Life Center at 26555 Franklin Rd, Southfield, MI 48033, as our main gym location, has been instrumental in fostering a nurturing environment where our youth can grow both athletically and spiritually.
The legacy of Christian Tabernacle Church, established in 1986 by Dr. James L. Morman and Loretta Morman, continues to flourish under the compassionate leadership of their daughter, Pastor Loretta Forbes, and her husband, Pastor Cecil Forbes. Their dedication to community outreach and empowerment is evident through their active involvement in initiatives like Holy Hoops, reflecting the church’s commitment to being “A Heart For The World, A Focus On Community.”
Pastor Loretta Forbes, alongside Lady Loretta Morman, has been instrumental in organizing events that bring together dynamic voices in faith and empowerment, further enriching our community’s spiritual journey. Pastor Cecil Forbes consistently inspires us to align our actions with our faith, encouraging us to “Invite God into your decision-making.”
Their collaborative leadership not only honors the foundational vision of Christian Tabernacle Church but also propels it forward, creating a legacy of faith, service, and community engagement. We are blessed to partner with such devoted leaders and look forward to continuing our shared mission of nurturing the next generation in both faith and fellowship.
A Visionary with a Heart for Youth and Community
Karlin Traylor is more than just the CEO and visionary of Holy Hoops—she is a trailblazer, a leader, and a woman of faith with a deep passion for developing young athletes both on and off the court. Her vision for Holy Hoops was born out of a desire to create a league where children truly learn the game of basketball—free from the pressures of politics and winning at all costs. Instead, she has built a program where skill development, understanding, and a love for the sport take priority, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.
Karlin’s own journey in basketball is nothing short of inspiring. As a standout player in both high school and college, she knows firsthand the value of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. But what sets her apart is her historic achievement as the first woman in Michigan to coach a boys’ varsity basketball team—a testament to her knowledge, leadership, and determination to break barriers.
Beyond basketball, Karlin’s heart for service is undeniable. She is the proud owner of a food truck that serves the homeless, embodying the true spirit of giving back to those in need. Her impact extends into education as well, as she partners with the Macomb Intermediate School District as a preschool partner for the G.S.R.P. program, ensuring that young learners receive the strong foundation they deserve.
In the world of business, Karlin’s entrepreneurial spirit continues to shine. Her small hot dog business has reached new heights through a prestigious partnership with Wayne State University, further solidifying her ability to lead, innovate, and create lasting change in the community.
Through Holy Hoops, Karlin Traylor is not just teaching basketball—she is shaping lives, instilling values, and building a community where every child is given the opportunity to succeed. Her unwavering dedication to the youth, her passion for the game, and her commitment to service
